odd night out
saw mike pardinas talking to ray barbee at the beginning of the night. lots of spectacles and a few of the women that love them. The end of the night revealed an awkward lanky boy-nerd enthusiastically fighting invisible enemies during the sonic assault. girls… on the dancefloor as usual. A strange slightly broad but pudgy young man in teal polo shirt with white slacks and odd white tennis shoes (with preppie sweater knot effect!?) jammed and jolted front and center to the genius clatter that the speakers spit out. i’m sure mr. pardinas truly enjoys those that give themselves away to the madness of his music and, perhaps, the stranger the better. are they the chosen ones that he is speaking to? they should be. to paraphrase cesar: you gotta give it up for that guy doing his own thing.
thanks to cesar, casey (k.c.?) and eric for taking me out to the casbah. i even got to play a game of pool and more than 20 games of berzerk. it’s definitely not pong but it’s a hell of a lot better than this.
oh yeah, the other music was real good too. was pleasantly surprised by the music from a guy I met at the record store – OntariO (aka Scott), danced a touch to the minimal housey sounds of fax, and got inspired by the (live) multi-instrumental group HiM. it was a nice and quite diverse evening which reminded me of the value of live music – even the computerized stuff.
