new news

Yeah. It’s May. Yay.

In other news… got to visit home recently and it was AWESOME. Good weather, family – new and old – a few measly chores, even a smidge of tractor driving and bush hoggin’ in the pasture. Can’t wait to see everybody again this summer, the time went by too fast.

I definitely didn’t disappoint Mom and slid back into my old routine of staying up late and getting up even later. I think I vaguely remember making her some malt-o-meal one morning but went promptly back to sleep, failing to serve Dad up any vittles when he rumbled awake. Thanks to all my siblings for showing how it’s really done – pitching in and pulling the heavy load during Mom’s recovery. It’ll still be a little while before she’s back to her old self but things are looking great. For Ma it’s just not soon enough. Convalescing is not fun, largely because of the whole ‘gradual’ part.

Seattle was lovely upon my departure, matching the weather that received me in Illinois, however, it was the grey and damp that welcomed me back. C’monnnnnnnn summer. I think I have photos somewhere that need to be posted… some of them might be good.

Just remember, if you think you have it rough or work too hard, Toru Kambara is just gonna laugh at you and my Mom is just gonna smile. Dad? He’s just gonna fritter time away creating a new intricate pattern for mowing the lawn with his new John Deere X320. What is that path finding algorithm in his subconscious based on? Old Style and fractals?

I need to get my design groove on ASAP at work so I’ll try and get pumped by checking out Shade Elaine’s fine work, her recommendation Todd Hido and those random goodies that I’ve been storing in bookmarks and in the back of my mind that have stimulated the long-dormant pencil pusher instinct. Sugarboots has been rocking some awesome collage cards again that are inspirational and should be on her site pretty soon.

To bed with me because I’m sniffling and have no time for a bug in my body before June hits. Here’s to skateboarding, sunshine, water that doesn’t fall from the sky, volleyball, girls on red scooters, kids in green grass, bike riding, black dogs and barbeques and all that fun summer stuff.
