cutmaster swift
Yes, the dumb jerk has done it again. For the second time I’ve slashed my hand open while washing a glass. Another one of the same, fricking, Urban Outfitters, piece-of-crap, super-thin glasses cracked open from the inside out while I was washing it. Arrrrrrrrgghhhnnn. I stumbled around for like 20 minutes trying to find some masking tape to strap up my poor little pinkie with a gob of gauze and a paper towel. I later added a pencil as a splint to immobilize the poor little bugger.
Though I did not seek medical attention for possible stitches, Chako did take me to Rite-Aid later in the evening to get supplies for a more professional dressing. I was a bit worried when it first happened because it was a big cut around a good part of the finger next to the joint. After making sure that all feeling was still present and that I could wiggle everything properly. I washed it out, gushed on lots of Hydrogen Peroxide and APPLIED DIRECT PRESSURE.
While this does suck rocks, I’m happy it wasn’t worse and that Chako is nice enough to help me with wrapping it up. While I did have a very ambitious plan for the entire weekend, hopefully I can still get around to most of the non-strenuous and dexterity-intensive items. My current situation is a reminder that having insurance would be nice but it also tells me that it probably wouldn’t hurt to lead a more active lifestyle (skateboarding etc.) since I seem to be able to work myself in heinous and unsuspected ways even in the relative safety of my own home.
I’m also reminded of my pack rat dysfunction as, even now, I hesitate to hurl the remainder of those piece-of-junk, booby-trap glasses into a dumpster at shattering speed. Where can I get those commercial grade tumblers like Ken Crowell used to have? Or at the very least one of those long handled dish scrubbers? DJ 2400÷2 in the house.

get a long-handled sponge specially designed for cleaning glasses. or
get thicker glasses that don’t become a landmine when you stick your hand in them. or
get someone else to wash the glasses…...
