night out
Sure it’s November but it’s November in San Diego. It was actually balmy outside tonight. The moon was out in full force and the sky was clear as the dickens. (Well Dickens isn’t always that clear to my modern ear… but beautiful and clever anyway.) I got to travel by foot tonight and it was nice. The fresh air does 24-7 work-eat-sleep cabin fever quite a lot of good. Chako and Linhchi were nice enough to entertain me tonight even though I was dressed up like an idiot. C banged out her for-hire wordsmithing and Linhchi came armed with her sketchbook. Actually I’d have to call it a drawing book because there’s so little sketchiness to her calligraphic style. It makes me crazy to watch her but it was soooooo relaxing. I’m not sure if all my random questions bug the crap out of her or not. Chako was a sport and let me help with her editing so I got to put my neurotic nitpicking to task. I like words. Chako is definitely giving those yokels way more than their money’s worth. The evening in a nutshell: In house bad. Out house good. Especially when you’ve been dying to go. (geez…)

Certain portions of this album makes my eyes pool with water. I am NOT the weepy type, but maybe I’m just getting soft. This shit is solid man. A general note though… make sure you like a vocalist’s voice before you invest any money. The wrong voice can ruin music and OFTEN does. Tastes vary, but maybe that’s why I like instrumentals so much. And NO they ARE NOT boring. Just cuz some fool ain’t yodeling over a tune doesn’t disqualify it as music.

if not, you’re missing out on a lot of meaning behind “it’s summertime”...
