nihon updates
Maybe some bad news to those who are visiting this sorry little journal regularly… I’ve decided to try and hold off on the full-fledged reports until after I return or find a large chunk of time to put down my thoughts and memories of daily fun. I write too doggone much to fit it all in during my quick session at the computer lab. (Chako however can put down some mad tippy-tap with those piano hands of hers.) In the meantime I’ll keep up with my hand scribbles in my spiral-bound, college ruled notebook instead of the electro version and post it here when I find the time. After all, I’m trying to warm up for all that illustrating I’m supposed to be doing, right? I’ll make sure to get enough writing in to properly document the trip so I’ll actually remember what happened two weeks from now or so. (that’s way past my normal memory retention span… though there is that hypno-regression therapy that I could always try, but that’s expensive.)
Maybe I’ll put in some quick notes if I get to these infernal machines during the rest of the trip. For now I have some obvious concerns:
How long will it take me to learn to speak japanese? (if it is even remotely possible) How can I import some of these bad-ass mini autos for my use in the states? (japanese models = honda fit, daihatsu mira, and those crazy square models… ) At the least I need to get ahold of one of those 3 wheeled delivery scooters (honda gyro) with the canopy. ZZZZZoom. Besides drooling on all the pretty things and design styles, I’m actually feeling refreshed traveling around a new place soaking in all the sights/smells/tastes and the larger environ, natural elements included. I’ve been snapping pictures like mad which should help me keep the fun alive and spread it around a bit. Since I’m not on the business end (as usual) there shouldn’t be too much skinny white boy ruining the view. I did get a few shots of myself to prove that I actually made it, though look closely – I could have faked it with photoshop. Gotta go get some vittles and take some medicine so I can finish off this cold. I want to be strong like the bull on my skate runs with Toru. Huzzah!
